The purpose of physical therapy is to improve function for the child and their family, and to prevent deformities. Our physical therapy will provide only the best interventions that focus on the "whole" child in a natural environment (the child's home, school, daycare, or community). In addition to providing direct care to the child, the therapists provide education and coaching to the parents and family about how to incorporate techniques and activities in the home to continue working towards the goals of the child throughout the week.
Pediatric physical therapists provide services that help children birth through young adults restore function, reach motor milestones, prevent/ limit permanent physical disabilities, and improve mobility and strength. They focus on the evaluation and treatment of children with health problems resulting from injury, disease, or congenital conditions, with an emphasis on movement dysfunction. Movement is the foundation for higher learning. The efficiency of a child's strength and mobility allows a child to maximize their independence. Gross motor skills such as rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, walking, running, jumping, climbing, skipping, bike riding, and ball skills are the foundation of gross motor development. Our expert therapists are also skilled in orthotics (braces) and equipment management, such as custom wheelchairs, standers, walkers, etc.
